The Best Mother's Day? A Calm, Strong You

"You cannot pour from an empty cup — and your children are watching how you fill yours."

Happy Mother's Day to every woman who shows up in tenderness, in strength, in healing, and with love. Motherhood is not one thing. It is living, evolving, courageous care. This year, I want to celebrate you by talking about something we don't say enough:

Taking care of yourself is one of the most powerful things you can do for your children.

Research tells us something remarkable: the simple act of talking with your child with real, back-and-forth conversation is one of the most important things you can do for their developing brain. We process and respond to real conversation in about 200 milliseconds. That responsiveness, that connection, is a gift no screen can replicate. In fact, studies show parents speak less to their babies when scrolling on smartphones, even though early conversation is directly tied to brain development.

Here's the thing — you can only show up fully present when you feel grounded. That's where yoga comes in. At It's Yoga Kids®, we always say: Stay Strong. Be Calm. Those aren't just words for children — they're a practice for every one of us. When you do yoga alongside your kids, something beautiful happens:

💪You get stronger. Physical strength and flexibility build confidence in you and in your child watching you.

🌬️You get calmer. Breath work and mindfulness lower stress hormones so you can respond, not just react.

🪞You model it. Children learn from watching. When they see you practice, they learn that wellness is a priority.

🔗 You connect. Shared movement creates shared joy, and joyful moments are the seeds of lifelong closeness.

A reset is not a failure — it's a return

Maybe this season of motherhood feels hard. Maybe you're in a chapter of change, grief, growth, or all three at once. I want you to hear this: a reset is not a failure. It is a return to you.

Choose alignment through daily rhythm one mindful movement, 10–15 minutes of breath and stillness, a moment of gratitude. These aren't luxuries. They are the tools that make everything else possible.

And surround yourself with community. Women rise best when we rise together. Matriarchy is what happens when we honor each other, shine the light on one another, and refuse to let any woman carry her challenges alone.

Your Mother's Day gift to your child

Roll out a mat. Take a breath. Move together. Show your child what it looks like to be strong, calm, and present. That is a gift that lasts a lifetime from cradle to college and beyond.

Here's to every mama out there doing the beautiful, hard, joyful work of raising the next generation. You are enough. And you are so deeply appreciated.

Be Your Own Superhero: What’s your AQ?

Press PLAY to listen to this post.

You’ve heard of IQ (intelligence quotient) and EQ (emotional intelligence), but now there’s a new kind of superpower people are talking about—AQ. Often called adaptability or agility quotient, AQ is all about how well we handle change, bounce back from challenges, and keep moving forward no matter what life throws our way.

On Superheroes Day (April 28), we usually celebrate capes, masks, and amazing powers. But what if we told kids that their greatest superpower isn’t flying or invisibility, but adaptability? That ability to stay calm, curious, and courageous when something feels hard, new, or unexpected. That’s AQ.

Just like superheroes learn to use their powers, kids can build their AQ through everyday challenges and mindful practices. Yoga helps with this naturally:

  • When a pose feels tricky, kids learn patience and persistence.
  • When they wobble in Tree Pose, they practice balance and resilience.
  • When they take a deep breath after falling, they strengthen self‑confidence and emotional calm.

Resilience and adaptability aren’t traits only some people are born with, they’re skills that grow with practice, reflection, and support.

So this Superheroes Day, encourage your child to notice their own inner strength. Celebrate when they try something new, stay curious in the face of uncertainty, and remind them: their ability to adapt is their superpower. 🦸‍♀️  This is the #1 success skill we teach at It’s Yoga Kids.

Real superheroes don’t just save the world, they keep learning, growing, and rising after every challenge. ⚡️

Earth Day: Small Moves, Big Love for the Planet

Press PLAY to listen to this post.

Earth Day reminds us that caring for the planet doesn’t always require big actions. Sometimes it begins with something small like a breath, a step outside, or a moment of gratitude for the world around us.

Children naturally feel connected to nature. They notice the shape of a leaf, the sound of the wind, and the way the ground feels beneath their feet. Kids yoga helps nurture that connection. When children slow down, stretch, and breathe, they learn to pay attention and paying attention is often the first step toward caring.

In yoga classes at It’s Yoga Kids, we often talk about balance. Balance in our bodies, balance in our emotions, and balance in the world around us. Earth teaches us this lesson every day through its cycles of day and night, seasons changing, plants growing and resting.

This Earth Day, try a simple family practice: step outside together, take three slow breaths, and notice one thing in nature that makes you smile. It might be a bird, a cloud, a flower, or the warmth of the sun.

When children learn to appreciate the Earth in these quiet moments, they begin to understand something powerful: the planet is not just a place we live, it’s a place we care for.

Sometimes the smallest mindful moment can grow into a lifelong love for our world. 🌎🧘‍♀️

Tax Day and Taxing?! The Mom Group

Press PLAY to listen to this post.

April 15 is Tax Day. A day that can feel a little… taxing. But beyond filing returns and organizing receipts, it’s also a good moment to reflect on something many parents experience: the dynamics of mom groups.

Lately, celebrity headlines have been full of stories about the drama that can unfold in parent circles with competitive energy, misunderstandings, and the pressure to appear like everything is perfectly balanced. Parenting is already a big job; the last thing families need is extra stress from comparison or competition.

At It’s Yoga Kids, we like to think of our community as a different kind of mom group.

Yoga moms, and caregivers of all kinds, tend to gather with a shared intention: support, not stress. Instead of comparing schedules, we share breathing space. Instead of competing, we encourage. Yoga reminds us that every family’s journey is unique, and every child grows at their own pace.

In our classes, you might see parents chatting while kids practice Tree Pose, laughing during a wobbly balance, or taking a quiet breath together at the end of class. These simple moments create something powerful: a community built on mindfulness, kindness, and connection.

This Tax Day, while you check off your financial to-do list, consider giving yourself a different kind of return: time to breathe, move, and connect with a supportive community.

When parents feel grounded, kids feel it too. And that’s the kind of investment that pays off all year long. In fact, many moms have met at IYK® classes and continue their friendships throughout the kids going to college and beyond! 🚀
